The Chevreuse Valley / La Vallée de Chevreuse

We have reserved the whole place for the evenings of June 22 & 23.   There are 5 good bedrooms and 2 small ones.   We are rationing them carefully - please contact us if you are interested.

We have reserved the 5 rooms in this B&B a minute away from our home in Clairefontaine-en-Yvelines for family only.   We have reserved for 3 nights (Friday June 21 to Monday June 24).  

We have reserved this 3BR house in Clairefontaine-en-Yvelines for the nights of June 21-23.  It is a lovely house in a big property which is also a working farm in the woods.  It is about a 5 minute drive from our house and a 15 minute drive from the wedding.  Let us know if you want to stay here.   You need to commit for all 3 nights.

The largest local castle, hunting lodge for generations of French kings and one of Napoleon's homes.   Beautiful grounds and castle.   In the centre ville of Rambouillet.  15 minutes drive.

More of a fortress / citadel, it overlooks the beautiful town of Chevreuse with its cute river walk.   A bit of a hike to get to the castle as it sits on a promontory above the village, but worth the walk for the amazing view.   20 minutes drive.

Right across from the wedding site is a lovely public golf course on a hill and in the forest topped by a castle that is a replica of the Palais de la Légion d'Honneur in Paris that includes a very nice restaurant.  1 minute from the wedding.

An old abbey that has been converted into a very upscale resort and restaurant.   You have to reserve if you want to visit.    There is a really lovely easy hike between the abbey and a nearby rustic mill with some old ruins that was used by a school of painters in the 19th century.  15 minutes drive.

The Barn in Bullion has an adjoined equestrian center that does horse rides.  You can reserve there for 75 euros for a 90 minute stroll in the forest.  Click here for more information:  La Cense

Louis XIV, Louis XV, Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette.... a unique place.   It's crowded, guided tour recommended.   The grounds are beautiful and not nearly as crowded.  About 45 minutes away.

The castle that was given to Louis XIV's mistress, Madame de Maintenon.  It has a long history of its own and is very impressive.  The grounds are nice and there are the ruins of a spectacularly failed water project from Louis XIV.   About 20 minutes drive.

A well-known antique shop in an old manor house, including a café / restaurant.  (Reservations recommended for Sunday lunch.).  About a 40 minute drive.
